Chapters 28-36

 

1.    Janina gets to see the angel statue and the children discuss their version of heaven. How do they describe heaven? Why do you think they describe it this way? What would heaven be for you?

2.    Janina and Misha discover a Milkweed plant. Why does it become Janina’s angel? What does it symbolize?

3.    Misha finds where Uri spends his time. Where does Uri work? How do you think he got the job? Why doesn’t he go by the name Uri at this job?

4.    Misha Meet Uncle Shepsel on the street and he asks, “You go. Every night you go…Why do you come back?” Why do you think he comes back?

5.    What is Hanukkah? Why does Mr. Milgrom insist they celebrate the holiday? Why does Janina refuse to join in the celebration? How does Misha help her to celebrate?

6.    What is Uri’s news and warning to Misha? What do you think this will mean to the people living in the ghetto?
